Sony VAIO VGN-CR353
Though its name may sound like a mouthful, the Sony VAIO VGN-CR353 is one multimedia workhorse you can easily get into. With a wide array of colors to choose from – how about Pink Lizard? or Premium Gold? who comes up with these names? – your say on how fun or professional you want to look starts with purchasing this laptop.
The VGN-CR353 features a 2.1GHz Intel Core 2 Duo as well as two gigs of RAM. Compared to other laptops of its class, you won't find the VGN-CR353 lacking in any department. It's got your standard DVD burner, a generous 250 gig hard drive, the latest in Wi-Fi technology, Bluetooth connectivity, as well as a sweet 1.3-megapixel built-in camera.
A bright 14.1-inch widescreen display keeps the laptop small and portable and, paired with a 128MB X2300 Radeon video card, makes it ideal for viewing, gaming and graphics-intensive activities. The VGN-CR353 (as well as most VAIO laptops) also has a cool feature called AV Mode, which allows you to play videos and music or browse pics instantly from a CD or DVD without needing to enter Windows. Quite useful, really, and it can save you a lot of time when viewing media. Dedicated Play, Stop, Forward/Rewind and Volume buttons on the keyboard only sweeten the already sweet deal. LOVE Great video card. Nine color choices. AV Mode.
HATE Casing is a bit creaky. Letters on keyboard look like stickers. AV can't play AVI files.
WE SAY A well-rounded laptop that works especially well in multimedia, graphics design and gaming activities.
